Gallery Progress IV

Been working extra extra hard on the gallery. Quite frequently spending hours and hours client side code which has not been one of my strong points. Of course I have a lot more confidence in my abilities right now cause I just got the local image preview (not to be confused with the server side thumbnail generator) to work perfectly in FireFox and IE 6!

The problem was really getting to me earlier this week because I was spending so much time on it on to be followed by a workload at work that was just as bad. At some point I decided I needed a break and ended up watching Japanese TV shows and playing Final Fantasy X-2 for a few days. Needless to say that worked like a charm and I’m feeling like my normal, cheerful and very optimistic self again.

I’m especially happy because tomorrow I shall post my first ever Flash Video project thanks to inspiration from Warlord (awesome co-worker) and Parr. I won’t tell you too much about it now except that it answers the question…

What do super heroes do when they are laid off?

Stay tuned!

Macrame-Media

So very tired right now. Extra busy today, usual monday I guess. Looking forward to the Macromedia Seminar tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get a lot of new ideas on how to use Flash.

I just happen to have quite a few interesting ones planned but I’m always looking for more.

Aha, gotcha!

Squished two bugs in the Lifestone forum. The first was an annoying yet harmless index not defined message. The second was a bug in the Page 1, 2 link code for longer threads. In certain situations with 10 replies, the paging code would not count the topic in it’s logic. This would cause the topic and 9 messages show up on the first page with no links to the second page which contained the 10th reply. I’m happy to say it’s all fixed now and thanks to Parr for spotting that one. :)

In other programming news, I’m happy to report that my super ultra magic secret project is coming along great. I can’t reveal too much about it yet but let me just say that it involves Flash, PHP and MySQL working in unison. It’s also surprisingly efficient and will help everyone in the Lifestone communicate better than ever before.

If you think you know what I’m working on send me an email with your idea to {email expired}. Close guesses will get their Lifestone accounts upgraded to beta level access which will let you play around with my new creation before it officially comes out for everyone.

Mystery adds so more more excitement than simply surprising you doesn’t it?
